Birmingham Community Empowerment Network

Welcome
to Birmingham CEN

We are proud of what Birmingham's community and voluntary groups and active citizens achieve daily despite the odds that often seem stacked against them. We believe that the future of our city, its wealth and welfare, depends on its communities - all of its communities. We are proud of what we have achieved in working to bring together 20,000 community and voluntary groups and active citizens so that this city feels, and acts, more like one city. We want you to know, that if you care, you are not alone.

b:cen

In September, the Birmingham Strategic Partnership decided to decommission b:cen and BANF, and to cease grant funding. As a result, the b:cen programme has been closed down, and ceased functioning from November 30th 2007.

The Community Networks supported by b:cen, however, have decided they will carry on.  Representatives of them have been meeting on a regular basis since December 2007 and decided at  a meeting in Febriary 2008 to set up a new organisation to develop and support community networks in Birmingham.

The new organisation is expected to be launched later in March 2008.  After which a new website will be set up and kept up to date.
